I competed the memorial dances at the 2020 Colorado Springs Invitational and had an amazing time! Each year they have 2 dances in memory of two amazing people who passed away. The events were in memory of Ashleyann Carlson and Frank Frey. I did not get the chance to meet them but I heard many great things about them.
The events were the Rocker Foxtrot and the Cha-Cha because these were their favorite dances. For the competition, you could skate to whatever music you would like and just have a fun time with your programs. The competition is always a blast and everyone is so supportive cheering you on. I love getting the chance to compete these dances every year!
This year I chose “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts for my Rocker Foxtrot. This was so fun to skate to! I wore my hair in a high braid with a race car jacket and jeans on. The jeans were a little bit challenging to skate in but still fun regardless.
For the cha-cha, I chose “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira. This was was another fun one because I got to add some fun arms and cha-cha spice to it! I did a quick (which was VERY quick) change in between events because I knew jeans and a race car jacket wouldn’t exactly fit well for a cha-cha.
Overall the 2020 Colorado Springs Invitational was a success! It was a great competition and I took 3rd place in both events! I had an amazing time competing with my friends and cant wait to do it again next year! If you would like to watch my performances they will be at the bottom of this post! And if you would like to read about and watch last year’s performances you can do that right here!
